Artist Statement

Kalpana's art is deeply rooted in her personal experiences and cultural heritage, and her ultimate goal is to inspire hope in her viewers. Born into a family struggling with poverty, she learned to paint under the streetlights and, despite facing numerous obstacles and setbacks, has never lost her passion for creating art. With a background and upbringing that have imbued her work with a unique perspective and depth of meaning, Kalpana is a promising new voice in the contemporary art world.

Through her work, Kalpana aims to convey the raw emotions of the human experience and to explore the ways in which culture intersects with the modern world. Working primarily in mediums such as acrylic, watercolor, and colored pencil, she blends elements of her Asian heritage with a deep appreciation for the natural world to create a unique visual language that speaks to the resilience and hope that reside within us all.

In addition to her artistic pursuits, Kalpana is also a dedicated academic, currently pursuing a Ph.D. in nanotechnology for cancer treatment while also working as a lecturer in Organic Chemistry. Despite the demands of her other pursuits, she has managed to maintain an impressive level of productivity and creativity as an artist, producing over unique 100 pieces in the past year alone.
